Babson College scored 30 points off 27 Middlebury College turnovers as the Beavers defeated the Panthers, 78-55, in the semifinal round of the 2004 Babson Invitational Men's Basketball Tournament. The Panthers will take on Oberlin in the third place game on Saturday.
Babson (1-0) took control of the contest early on, beginning the game with a 21-9 run that was fueled by 10 points from senior tri-captain Phil Riffe (Newton, Mass.). The Beavers would eventually take a 34-21 lead into the break, and then led by as many as 25 midway through the second half on their way to the 78-55 victory.
Middlebury (0-1) was led by senior Mike Salek (Fairfield, Conn.), who scored 15 points, and senior co-captain Adam Sinoway (Harrisburg, Pa.), who recorded eight points and three steals.
