Third ranked Middlebury scored a goal in each half on the way to posting a 2-0 non-conference field hockey win over Keene State College at Owl Athletic Complex on Sunday evening.
Middlebury scored the only goal in the first half. At the 12:36 mark, Lauryn Nicasio (Rowayton, Conn.) took a pass from Channing Weymouth (Plymouth, N.H.) and fired the ball into the far corner of the net.
KSC goalie Sara Joyce (Hampstead, N.H.) kept it a one-goal game with several outstanding saves in the half, including back-to-back stops on Ashley Pullen (Oakland, Me.) and Reid Berrien (Westport, Conn.).
Middlebury added an insurance goal at the 60:13 mark when Claire Edelen (Sparks, MD.) scored off a scramble in front of the net.
Joyce finished with 21 saves for the Owls, while Meghan McGillen (East Harwich, Mass.) made four saves for the Panthers.
