Late Goal Lifts Field Hockey Team Over Colby

Middlebury 's Reid Berrien (Wesport, Conn.) scored with just 7:17 left in the game to lead the fourth-ranked Panthers to a 2-1 win over Colby College in New England Small College Athletic Conference field hockey Saturday.

Middlebury (6-0, 4-0 NESCAC) had averaged six goals per game in its three NESCAC victories before Saturday. Colby allowed a goal in regulation play for the first time this season in falling to 3-3 overall and 1-3 in the league.

Colby led 1-0 when Wendy Bonner (Lexington, Mass.) scored 10:30 into the contest. Claire Edelen scored with 9:20 to play in the first half for Middlebury's other goal.

Meghan McGillen (E. Harwich, Mass.) made four saves in the nets for Middlebury, while Jamie Enos (South Hamilton, Mass.) stopped 17 shots for Colby.
