The Middlebury women's soccer team battled back from a first-half deficit on Sunday to earn a 1-1 draw against Hamilton from a rain-soaked Allan Dragone Track & Field Complex.

HIGHLIGHTS

• The Continentals looked to strike 8:43 into the opening stanza. Lila Sullivan laced a shot from 25 yards that Panther goalkeeper Frankie Marston rose to punch over the crossbar.
• Nearly five minutes later, Gigi Day collected a loose ball near the center circle, sending a looping bid that Hamilton goalie Corah Boller jumped to deny.
• The Continentals gained the lead with 17:51 expired on a corner kick. Kate Giglio lofted the corner into the box, finding the head of Haley Cramer, who redirected the ball just over the goal line for the 1-0 edge.
• Middlebury nearly knotted the contest in the 31st minute, but Mariana Rode's left-footed volley at the top of the box was punched up and over the crossbar by Boller.
• On the ensuing corner kick, Noelle Mallory found space on the Hamilton doorstep. Boller was up to the task and dove to her right to squelch the chance.
• The Panthers came out with the momentum to start the second frame. Fiona Linnau muscled her way into space, but her volley whizzed just over the crossbar 31 seconds into action.
• In the 59th minute, Linnau ripped a right-footed blast destined for the left side of the netting, but Boller lunged to her right and poked it wide with her glove.
• After a foul in the box by Hamilton with 14:16 expired in the frame, Taya McClennen stepped to the dot, but Boller guessed right and made a sprawling save to maintain the one-goal advantage.
• Rode manufactured a pair of point-blank chances five minutes later looking for the equalizer, but Boller thwarted the opportunities.
• The Panthers leveled the match after a Hamilton foul with 16:49 remaining. Day tattooed a left-footed bid that deposited into the left netting to make it a 1-1 score.
• Middlebury nearly grabbed the lead two minutes later, but McClennen's shot ricocheted off the crossbar and out of harm's way. 
• The Panthers pushed for one last opportunity after a corner kick with 3:52 showing on the clock, but Rode's bid sailed high for the 1-1 final tally.

NOTES

• Day's goal was her first this fall and the 14th of her career.
• Marston finished her afternoon with three saves in front of the Middlebury net.
• The programs met for the 26th installment with the Panthers holding a 17-6-3 advantage in the all-time series and a 4-1-1 record in the last six contests.

Middlebury returns to action on Saturday with a 12:00 p.m. road contest against Bowdoin.
