Sarah LaFond of the Middlebury softball team has been unveiled as the NESCAC Player of the Week after spearheading an unblemished 4-0 week for the Panthers.

HONOREE HIGHLIGHTS

• LaFond excelled at the plate, going 8-for-13 with 10 runs batted in and a trio of runs scored during the four games.
• During the second contest against Vermont State University Castleton, the junior logged a pair of hits and plated four baserunners to seal a 14-4 run-rule triumph.
• She continued the hot streak during Saturday's twin bill sweep of Wesleyan, totaling three knocks and four RBI to help seal the second seed in the NESCAC Tournament for the second time in the last three seasons.
• LaFond's batting average of .400 across 75 at-bats trails only Kristyn Carroll among qualified hitters on the squad.
• The honor is the first of her career.

LaFond and her teammates set their sights on the upcoming NESCAC Tournament in Brunswick, Maine. The team opens against Bates on Friday at 4:00 p.m.
