Haskins-Vaughan's Rookie Recognition Headlines Middlebury’s League Praise

Lily Haskins-Vaughan became the third Panther in program history to be named the NESCAC's Most Outstanding Rookie.
The Middlebury women's track and field team secured all-conference selections in nine events, highlighted by Lily Haskins-Vaughan's announcement as the league's Most Outstanding Rookie. The Panthers finished in fourth place and posted a trio of individual titles at the NESCAC Championships. To earn the all-league accolade, athletes and relay quartets must finish in the top three of their respective events.

ABOUT THE HONOREES
  • Lily Haskins-Vaughan (Most Outstanding Rookie & High Jump)
    • Haskins-Vaughan became the first Panther to claim the high jump crown since Grace Doering '13 took home the 2012 title. Her leap of 1.71m headlined the field by three notches.
    • She becomes the third athlete in team history to be named the Most Outstanding Rookie and the first since Audrey MacLean in 2024.
    • The all-league laurel is the first of her career.
  • Lilly Wurtz (Discus & Shot Put)
    • Wurtz claimed her first individual league titles as a Panther in the discus and shot put. She reset her personal best and program record by 1.83 meters in the discus, hurling the implement 45.55m to become the second person in team history to win the event on the conference stage. The effort also slots 12th in Division III.
    • In the shot put, the senior logged a toss of 12.74 meters to take the top position.
    • Wurtz has tallied three All-NESCAC laurels in a Middlebury uniform after earning second in the discus last season.
  • Claire Palmer (1,500 & 5,000)
    • Palmer grabs all-conference recognition in a pair of events during her debut campaign. Her top outing came in the 5,000 in the form of a second-place clocking of 16:47.80.
    • The rookie also finished third in the 1,500, stopping her clock at 4:31.89. Both times were season bests.
    • Along with her track and field accolades, Palmer was named the NESCAC Rookie of the Year and a first-team selection in cross country.
  • Maggie Kim (Discus)
    • Kim logged a career-best heave of 40.11m in the discus to nab bronze on her final attempt.
    • The All-NESCAC nod is the first of Kim's career.
  • Grace Kaelber (3,000 Steeplechase)
    • Kaelber led the Middlebury contingent in the 3,000 steeplechase, stopping the clock at 10:49.00 for third.
    • The rookie secures her initial all-league honor.
RELAY HONOREE HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Panther quartet of Alison Rayment, Mary Elliot, Lily Bulczynski and Ella Pate blazed to a third-place outing in the 4x400 relay, crossing the finish line with a time of 3:51.71. Bulczynski's laurel is the third of her career and first in the 4x400, while the other three athletes secure their first overall selections.
  • In the 4x800, the grouping of Caroline VanSchaick, MK Cestaro, Naomi Atwood and Annelise Jensen garnered bronze with a clocking of 9:11.09. The honor is VanSchaick's second in the event, while Cestaro, Atwood and Jensen claim their first.
