#11 Panthers Log 7-0 Triumph Over Mules

The #11 Middlebury women's tennis team rolled to a 7-0 decision against Colby in the squad's penultimate match of the regular season.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Panthers swept partnered play to commence the contest. Ren Barton and Diya Pachamuthu opened with a 6-3 victory over Jade Finestone and Ella Novion, while Anna Lardner and Elsie Van Wieren secured the initial point by the same result against Isabella Suk and Michaela Landry in the top flight.
  • Lulu Wu and Ananya Annapantula rounded out doubles action against Katherine Lowy and Soumya Wijesekera at #2, tallying a 6-3 decision.
  • Pachamuthu rolled to a 6-3, 6-1 decision against Suk in the sixth singles tilt. Elizabeth Doak prevailed over Tina Barrow at #5 (6-4, 6-1) to push the lead to 3-0.
  • Lardner clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-2 result against Novion in the second spot. Van Wieren followed with a strong showing atop the ladder against Finestone (6-2, 6-0), crafting a 5-0 advantage.
  • Barton breezed through the opening set by a 6-0 tally in the third position against Landry before outlasting her foe in the tiebreaker for a 7-6 second-set score.
  • Charlotte McCann had a marathon battle at #4, bouncing back from a 7-6 loss in the first frame with a 6-1 showing in the second. She posted a 10-8 win in the superbreaker to complete the 7-0 outcome.
NOTES
  • Barton secured her 20th singles triumph, improving to 20-4 in individual competition this season.
  • The programs battled in the 33rd matchup of the all-time series. Middlebury touts a 29-4 advantage in the all-time series dating back to 1971.
The navy and white conclude the regular season on Sunday, squaring off against #17 Bowdoin at 11:00 a.m.
