#1 Panthers Close Regular Season With 15-6 Victory at #19 Williams

The #1 Middlebury women's lacrosse team capped its regular-season slate with a 15-6 victory over #19 Williams on Wednesday in Williamstown.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • With 13:16 remaining in the opening quarter, Parker Hanson fired a free-position shot into the right panel to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead.
  • Middlebury kept the run going with three goals over the next seven minutes to build a 4-0 advantage. After a Williams turnover, Hanson found Skylar Lach unmarked for a one-on-one chance against Ephs goalie Charlotte Cote that hummed into the center of the goal to cap the surge.
  • The hosts broke the scoreless streak 1:26 later when Katy McCollough cut inside and tucked a tough-angle bid into the right post.
  • Lach tallied the final two goals of the quarter, highlighted by a sweeper into the center of the net from Maddie Ackerman to make it 6-2 after 15 minutes.
  • Donohue manufactured consecutive markers 55 seconds apart to trim the deficit to three (6-3) with 9:14 left in the second stanza.
  • Middlebury rallied the troops again, ripping off five unanswered markers to take an 11-3 lead into halftime. Caroline Adams led the charge with two, while Haley Hamilton capped the run on a drive and tuck at the 14:20 mark.
  • The Ephs tried to spark some momentum just 2:04 into the second half. Reece Willson drove inside and tried to tuck a bouncer into the goal, but Savage lowered her stick and smothered the bid.
  • Adams bookended another four-goal surge with a free-position goal and a sizzler into the left panel from Maddie Ocampo to make it 15-3 heading into the final 15 minutes.
  • Williams scored the final three tallies to close the 15-6 decision.

NOTES

  • Lach paced the Panther attack with a career-high six goals. Her output matches the most by a Middlebury player this season.
  • Adams had another solid performance, finding the back of the net five times and adding eight draw controls.
  • Hanson closed out the top performers with a tally and four helpers.
  • Middlebury has won the last 13 matchups against the Ephs.
  • The victory marks the fifth straight undefeated regular season for the program.

The NESCAC Tournament seedings will be announced late Wednesday evening by the conference office.
