#12 Panthers Secure Saturday Sweep of Trinity

The 12th-ranked Middlebury women's tennis team cruised to a 7-0 triumph over Trinity on Saturday inside the Nelson Recreation Center.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Panthers quickly grabbed the lead in doubles action. Lulu Wu and Ananya Annapantula secured a 6-1 victory in the second spot before the pairing of Elsie Van Wieren and Anna Lardner followed suit via a 6-2 win to take the opening point
  • Ren Barton and Diya Pachamuthu earned a 6-4 decision over Kendall Cedar and Hellena Trojer at #3 to round out partnered play.
  • To open singles action, Lardner (6-0, 6-0) and Van Wieren (6-0, 6-1) conceded just one point across the second and top slots, respectively, putting Middlebury in the driver's seat with a 3-0 advantage.
  • Charlotte McCann secured the match for the navy and white on her 6-2, 6-1 victory against Emilia Romano in the third position.
  • In the fourth slot, Elizabeth Doak gave up just two points in her sweep of Trojer (6-2, 6-0).
  • Pachamuthu (6-1, 6-0) and Annapantula (6-1, 6-2) cruised in their battles at #5 and #6, respectively, sealing the 7-0 sweep.

NOTES

  • Wu tallied her 60th doubles victory as a Panther. 
  • Pachamuthu has won each of her last five singles matches.
  • Middlebury has won all 13 battles in the all-time series against Trinity.

The Panthers travel for a Sunday morning battle with #20 Tufts at 10:00 a.m.
