#1 Panthers Roll Past #24 Babson 18-3

Leading 5-2 after 15 minutes on Sunday, the top-ranked Middlebury women's lacrosse team rattled off 12 unanswered goals on its way to an 18-3 triumph over #24 Babson.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • With 1:13 elapsed in the opening stanza, Skylar Lach cashed in a feed from Caroline Adams to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead.
  • A scoreless stretch of nearly seven minutes followed. With 7:06 left in the frame, Jenna Wong connected for the first Beaver tally with a player-up free-position score to knot the contest at 1-1.
  • Lach contributed to a quick two-goal burst over the ensuing 38 seconds, calling her own number before aiding a Haley Hamilton strike with 13:32 played to restore the advantage (3-1).
  • The final 2:36 of the session contained a trio of markers. Hamilton opened the stretch before Parker Hanson (1:27) extended the edge to four. Babson's Lilly Bedard connected with Margaux Boneu to make it a 5-3 game at the quarter's conclusion.
  • The navy and white lead doubled in the second stanza. Siobhan Colin recorded an unassisted strike before Adams sandwiched goals by Hamilton (6:24) and Lach (3:27) with a pair of scores from the eight-meter arc, widening the margin to 10-2 through 30 minutes.
  • Maeve Lee (10:40) and Maddie Ackerman (1:09) joined the scoring column and Adams added a pair of finishes in the third frame to establish a 14-2 contest.
  • The tandem of Hanson and Maggie Spehr combined to rustle the net twice early in the fourth, while Libby Schiffmann assisted a Maddie Ocampo tally.
  • Hailey Murray scored the third Beaver goal with 5:31 left, but Hanson aided a third Spehr strike in the closing minutes to seal the 18-3 win.
NOTES
  • Adams (4G, 3A) and Hanson (1G, 5A) paced the scorers with seven and six points, respectively. Hanson tallied career-best totals in points (six) and assists (five).
  • Lach followed closely behind with five points on three goals and two helpers, while Spehr notched her first multi-goal effort in the navy and white.
  • Caroline Messer finished with six ground balls and four caused turnovers. Jaime Patton-Martin also forced four miscues.
  • The Panthers have now claimed 60 consecutive contests away from Peter Kohn Field dating back to the 2019 season.
  • Middlebury owns an 8-1 edge over Babson in the all-time series.
