The #7 Middlebury women's tennis team leveled Sunday's match against top-ranked Washington University in St. Louis at 1-1 before the Bears tallied three straight points for a 4-1 win. The contest was the third-place installment of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Women's National Team Indoor Championships in Tennessee.

HIGHLIGHTS
- The #3 Panther duo of Diya Pachamuthu and Elsie Van Wieren blanked their opponents before WashU's second pairing of Eliana Hanna and Ally Lin was victorious 6-1.
- In the top slot, the Bear tandem of Eleanor Archer and Caitlin Bui raced out to a 3-1 edge. The Middlebury team of Gusty Beveridge and Lulu Wu claimed the next two games to even the score at 3-3. Archer and Bui secured the next three tallies for a 6-3 win to put WashU ahead 1-0.
- Ren Barton knotted the match at one apiece at #5 singles with her straight-set triumph (6-0, 6-3) over Lily Brecknock.Â
- The Bears secured a 6-3, 6-2 victory in the second spot to grab a 2-1 advantage.
- Tightly-contested matches at #1 (6-4, 6-2) and #3 (6-4, 6-3) went in favor of WashU for the final 4-1 decision.
NOTES
- Wu and Lin split the first two sets in the fourth spot, while Charlotte McCann held a 3-1 advantage in the second stanza after Nina Moravek won the initial set when the match was decided.
- Barton tallied her third straight win in singles and collected her team-best 11th triumph this season.
- Van Wieren's doubles victory was the 35th of her career.Â
- The programs squared off for the second time.
Middlebury returns to action on Saturday when it opens NESCAC play with a 2:00 p.m. match at Connecticut College.Â
