Mary Elliot clocked a time of 2:20.85 to win the 800-meter run on Saturday at Tufts.
Select members of the Middlebury women's track and field team competed at the Tufts Invitational on Saturday in Massachusetts, including a pair of event winners.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Mary Elliot claimed the top spot in the 800-meter run, recording a time of 2:20.85. The Panther jumped five spots between the first and third split to claim the crown.
- Claire Palmer bested the pack by nearly 12 seconds with a first-place showing in the 3,000 at 9:51.63. MK Cestaro earned seventh with a clocking of 10:16.07.
- Anna Mazur crossed the finish line in 1:00.79 during the 400 to claim sixth.
- Ellie McDonald grabbed sixth in the 200, stopping the clock in 26.79 seconds. Ella Pate followed her teammate in seventh at 27.17 seconds.
- Naomi Atwood climbed eight spots after the initial split to secure ninth in the mile run (5:15.90).
The squad returns to action on Saturday, February 14. The Panthers will send a contingent to Boston University for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, while others return to Medford for the Tufts Cupid Challenge.
