Julia Tulimieri was one of fourth Panthers to set a program mark.
The Middlebury women's track and field team had an action-packed weekend, resetting five program marks over two meets in Massachusetts. The Panthers sent athletes to the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational and the Tufts Cupid Challenge. The invite hosted by the Terriers featured unattached competitors and student-athletes from each of the three NCAA Divisions.
DAVID HEMERY VALENTINE INVITATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS
- The Panthers had a pair of top-20 finishers in the 60-meter dash. Melissa White claimed a tie of 15th with a time of 8.14 seconds, while Ellie McDonald was one-hundredth behind in 17th.
- Claire Palmer cut nearly four seconds off her career best during the mile with a clocking of 5:01.74.
- In the 200, Jazmyn Hurley set a personal best and school record at 25.64 seconds.
- Annelise Jensen shaved over a second off her collegiate best in the 800, crossing the finish line with a clocking of 2.16.44.
- Anna Krouse narrowly missed a top-half effort in the 200, racing to 54th at 26.31.
TUFTS CUPID CHALLENGE HIGHLIGHTS
- Middlebury's first event triumph came in the 60. Olive Lawrence blazed across the finish line with a school-record clocking of 7.72 seconds.
- In the shot put, the Panthers grabbed the top two spots. Julia Tulimieri took home gold with a school-best heave of 12.64 meters, while teammate Lilly Wurtz was right behind with a toss of 12.35m.
- Lily Haskins-Vaughan paced the navy and white efforts in the high jump, earning a share of second with Babson's Amrit Rehal after clearing 1.63m.
- Emma Mills posted a stellar program-record time in the 60 hurdles. The Panther secured silver with her final clocking of 8.98 seconds.
- Tallying a runner-up showing was Janie Morganroth, crossing the finish line at 5:19.10 in the mile.
- The quartet of Mary Elliot, Ella Pate, Hurley and Anna Mazur combined for a 3:56.16 to earn second in the 4x400 relay.
- Gabriella Gerig hit the sand with a leap of 11.04m for third during the triple jump.
- Middlebury had two competitors tally top-five finishes during the 200. Lawrence claimed fourth (26.48), while Mills was 0.17 behind in fifth.
- Closing out the top field performers was Wurtz in the weight throw, tallying fourth via a heave of 15.47m.
- In the distance medley relay (DMR), Cate Kreutzen, Naomi Gomel, Josie Dolan and Morganroth claimed fifth (13:37.16).
- Capping the top-five honors was Gomel with a time of 3:12.26 in the 1,000.
NOTES
- Wurtz's weight throw bests the previous school record of 15.41m set in 2024, while Mills erases the program mark in the 60 hurdles by 0.01 seconds that was established nine years ago.
- Tulimieri broke the indoor shot put by 0.01 meters, besting Wurtz's toss from the Middlebury Snowflake Invitational earlier this season.
- Hurley's clocking in the 200 at BU bested the program mark by .03 seconds set eight years ago.
- Lawrence's time in the 60 lowers her Middlebury record of 7.78 seconds set earlier this season at the Luke Hotte Field and Track Meet.
- Morganroth shaved over five seconds off her previous best showing in the mile.
The Panthers are idle for two weeks before returning to competition for the three-day Division III Indoor New England Championships beginning Friday, February 27 in Massachusetts.
