Women’s Track and Field Competes at MNESCI in Boston

Jazmyn Hurley secured a second-place finish with a time of 58.68 seconds in the 400-meter dash.
The Middlebury women's track and field team logged numerous top-eight finishes at its New England Small College Invitational on Sunday. The event was hosted by the Panthers at the TRACK at New Balance in Boston, Massachusetts.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Middlebury quartet of Ella Pate, Alison Rayment, Anna Mazur and Mary Elliot posted a first-place time of 4:00.15 in the 4x400-meter relay.
  • Jazmyn Hurley and Pate led their respective heats in the 400. Hurley posted a second-place time of 58.68 seconds, while Pate stopped the clock in 58.85 seconds to claim third. Mazur (59.61) and Elliot (59.82) finished sixth and eighth, respectively.
  • Emma Mills' clocking of9.13 seconds was good for second place in the 60 hurdles, edging Amherst's Anastasia Ioppolo by four-hundredths of a second. Emily Rubio logged a seventh-place showing at 9.34 seconds.
  • Rubio was one of two athletes in the high jump to clear 1.63m, accomplishing the feat on her third attempt to finish second. Lily Haskins-Vaughan made it over the 1.58m mark during her second try to claim third.
  • Grace Kaelber finished third in the 5,000, crossing the finish line in 18:18.29. Josie Dolan followed her teammate across in 18:39.58 to land inside the top five.
  • The Panther group of Shea Fajen, Cate Kreutzen, Janie Morganroth and Miya Cheng raced to third in the 4x800 relay with a time of 9:51.87.
  • Annelise Jensen logged a fourth-place effort in the mile with a clocking of 5:08.61, while Fajen finished seventh at 5:11.03.
  • Rubio hit the sand with a leap of 5.06m on her third attempt to secure fourth in the long jump.
  • Hurley tacked on a fourth-place showing in the 200, completing her race in 26.02 seconds.
  • Julia Tulimieri earned fifth-place spots in the weight throw (14.29m) and shot put (11.47m).
  • Katie Bruno picked up a sixth-place outing in the 60, stopping the clock at 8.07 seconds.
  • Other top-eight finishes included Melissa White in the 200 (seventh, 26.44), Gabriella Gerig in the long jump (seventh, 4.95m) and Kreutzen in the 800 (eighth, 2:22.65).
Middlebury will return to Massachusetts to compete in the Tufts Invitational on Saturday, February 7. The invite is set to begin at 10:00 a.m.
