2026 Women’s Track & Field Season Preview

The Middlebury women’s track and field team opens its indoor season on Saturday, January 10 when it hosts the Middlebury Snowflake Invitational. The Panthers look to build on a fifth-place showing at the Division III Indoor New England Championships and seek their fourth NESCAC Championship in five years during the spring campaign.

Emily Rubio returns to the squad after a stellar indoor season, earning All-American honors in the pentathlon with a school-record 3,603 points. The senior was also the Division III New England Champion in the event and tallied United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region recognition. During the outdoor slate, she qualified for the high jump at the NCAA Championships alongside three all-region nods in the heptathlon, high jump and 400-meter hurdles.

Mary Elliot ran the third leg of Middlebury’s All-American performance in the distance medley relay (DMR) at the NCAA Indoor Championships. The Panther was also named an all-region honoree in the event while garnering All-New England laurels in the 4x400 relay. Middlebury’s quartet of Lily Bulczynski, Katie Bruno, Olive Lawrence and Melissa White will bolster the squad’s sprinter lineup.

Julia Tulimieri earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors in the shot put during the indoor campaign. The Panther excelled during the outdoor season, claiming all-region and All-New England recognition in the hammer throw and shot put. The senior also finished third in the hammer at the NESCAC Championships and reset the program’s shot put record (12.58 meters) at the Division III Outdoor New England Championships. Lilly Wurtz joins Tulimieri to headline the throwing unit. She was an all-region selection during the indoor season for the weight throw before earning the same distinction for the discus and shot put in the spring. Wurtz claimed runner-up honors in the discus during the conference championship meet.

Anna Kester and Claire Miller are the Panthers’ top returning pole vaulters. Kester secured two top-10 finishes and had a season-best clearance of 2.95 meters at the NESCAC Championships. Miller competed in seven invites over the winter and spring campaigns.

We are excited for the 2026 season and a team led by a strong veteran group of returners and a talented class of first-years. Our aim is to do well in the regional championships and then qualify as many as we can for the NCAA championship meets.

Beatty ‘84 returns for his 38th year at the helm of the program. Assistant coaches Nicole Wilkerson, Bruce Ingersoll, Kevin Chu ’14 and Jake Rigoli each return to a staff that welcomes two alumni to the fold in Will Behm ‘22 and Xander Swann ‘25.
