Olive Lawrence rewrote her program record in the 60-meter dash.
The Middlebury women's track and field team tallied numerous event victories while hosting the Luke Hotte Field and Track Meet inside Virtue Field House. The festivities included several programs from around the region and featured a non-scoring team format.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Olive Lawrence broke her program record in the 60-meter dash, clocking in at 7.78 seconds to win the event and surpass her time of 7.80 from the Snowflake Invitational. Jazmyn Hurley (8.05) and Melissa White (8.19) rounded out the podium efforts.
- The Panthers secured the top-five placements in the long jump, headlined by Lawrence's 5.23-meter leap in her third attempt. Gabriella Gerig (4.94m) and Lily Haskins-Vaughan (4.91m) claimed second and third, respectively.
- A few events later, Gerig soared 10.41m in the triple jump to take first place, while Haskins-Vaughan claimed the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.58m.
- Josie Dolan opened Saturday's action with a first-place clocking of 18:52.85 in the 5,000, winning the race by over a minute.
- In the 200, Katie Bruno led a quintet of Panthers with a winning time of 26.40. Hurley was five-hundredths of a second behind (26.45), while Ellie McDonald secured third (26.73).
- The 3,000 featured Middlebury runners at the top of the leaderboard. Grace Kaelber posted a winning clocking of 10:48.20, while Amelia Gray was second in 11:07.35.
- The 4x400 relay quartet of Mary Elliot, Alison Rayment, Annabel Cloney and Anna Mazur blazed across the line with a victorious effort of 4:06.54. Elliot added an individual event victory, as her initial career 500 time of 1:19.27 led the field.
- Claire Miller headlined a sweep of the pole vault as the lone Panther to clear the bar at 3.20m. Anna Kester took second at 3.05m, while Helen Moak and Colleen Halliday sharedthird (2.60m).
- The navy and white grabbed the top seven placings in the mile. Claire Palmer crossed the finish line first with a clocking of 5:05.18, followed by Shea Fajen (5:18.28) and Janie Morganroth (5:24.22).
- The 800 featured Middlebury runners sweeping the podium. Annelise Jensen led the field to the line (2:17:46). Lily Bulczynski (2:21.06) and Caroline Van Schaick (2:21.96) rounded out the top finishers.
- In the weight throw and the shot put, Julia Tulimieri grabbed first with tosses of 14.57m and 12.36m, respectively. Lilly Wurtz claimed runner-up honors in the shot put (11.58m) and third in the weight throw (14.28m).
- Emma Mills cruised through the 60 hurdles, stopping the clock in 9.37 seconds to top the podium. Samantha Czaplicki earned runner-up honors by crossing the line at 10.19.
- Mazur (1:00.49) and Sarah Hall (1:03.34) claimed the top two positions in the 400.
NOTES
- The invitational's namesake, Luke Hotte, passed away last year after serving as the assistant track and field coach for 31 years. He contributed to 27 individual NESCAC champions, six conference championship teams and six individual NCAA champions.
- Haskins-Vaughan's effort in the long jump was a career-best distance by 0.45 meters, while Hurley lowered her personal best in the 200.
- Miller reset her collegiate best in the pole vault of 3.00m set at the Middlebury Winter Classic.
The Panthers return to competition on Sunday, February 1, when they host the New England Small College Invitational from The TRACK at New Balance in Boston.
