Women’s Track & Field Competes in Two-Day Home Invitational

Emily Rubio claimed the pentathlon title with a total of 3,472 points, winning three of the five events.
The Middlebury women's track and field team hosted the two-day Winter Classic from the Virtue Field House on Friday and Saturday. The squad won six events during the meet, including four individual titles and two relays.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Lulu Baker paced the 5,000-meter run on Friday evening, posting a time of 18:55.99. Amelia Gray (19:12.08) followed with a runner-up finish.
  • Claiming the indoor pentathlon on Friday was Emily Rubio, who tallied 3,472 points and topped the podium in three of five events. Her first-place finishes included the 60 hurdles (9.26 seconds), the high jump (1.62m) and the long jump (5.24m).
  • Julia Tulimieri earned the shot put title with a heave of 12.06 meters. Lilly Wurtz nabbed second in the event (11.71m) and added a third-place showing in the weight throw (14.59m).
  • Ella Pate stopped the clock in 58.68 seconds to secure gold in the 400, while Anna Mazur finished third with a time of 1:00.56. Mazur later nabbed second in the 200 (27.01).
  • The quartet of Melissa White, Jazmyn Hurley, Ellie McDonald and Katie Bruno set the pace in the 4x200 relay with a time of 1:46.23. Middlebury also claimed the 4x400, with Pate, Mazur, Rayment and Sarah Hall putting together a combined clocking of 4:06.82.
  • Olive Lawrence secured a runner-up placement in the long jump, clearing 5.04m.
  • Emma Mills clocked in at 9.11 seconds to earn a second-place finish during the 60 hurdles.
  • Alison Rayment claimed silver honors in the triple jump with a 10.55m effort, while Claire Palmer was the runner-up finisher in the 3,000 with a time of 9:55.13 in her first collegiate track event.
  • Bruno and Hurley dashed to second and third in the 60 with clockings of 7.94 and 7.95 seconds, respectively.
  • Farah Wyche closed the podium showings with a clocking of 27.74 seconds during the 200.
NOTES
  • Mills and Pate established personal records in the 60 hurdles and 400, respectively.
  • Bruno and Hurley each recorded individual milestones in the 60.
The Panthers return to the Virtue Field House for their final meet in January, hosting Middlebury's Luke Hotte Field and Track Meet on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
