#13 Panthers Tally Scoreless Draw With Trinity

The 13th-ranked Middlebury women's soccer team battled Trinity for 90 minutes on Saturday, but neither side found the back of the net in a scoreless draw.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Panthers had their first opportunity to score 9:40 into the opening half following a foul just outside the penalty area. A bending free kick from the left side by Stella Espinasse was saved on the post by Bantam goalkeeper Lily Bracken.
  • Trinity looked to break through with 21:51 expired, but a turnaround shot by Maggie Hyder from 25 yards was punched over the crossbar by goalie Livia Davdison to keep it scoreless.
  • Five minutes later, Middlebury manufactured a chance with a left-footed blast from Taya McClennen that sailed over the upper-right portion of the net.
  • With 11:02 left in the opening half, a shot on the run by Bantam Lauren Tracy whistled over the bar.
  • Trinity's Taylor Troskey nearly put the hosts on the board two minutes later on a knuckling bid that Davidson smothered.
  • Middlebury turned up its pressure in the second half. Mia Feldman had a left-footed volley with 11:17 expired that sailed wide of the left post.
  • The Panthers produced a pair of opportunities over the next 10 minutes with the best coming on a header by Carolina Espinosa with 29:35 remaining that Bracken caught.
  • Trinity had their best chance of the stanza in the 71st minute when a shot by Sara Rieger from close range was lifted over the crossbar.
  • Middlebury engineered a quality opportunity with 7:33 left on a header by Espinosa. Bracken tracked the bid and dove to her right to make the stop.
  • The Bantams pushed for the game-winning tally in the final minute, but a shot from Kyra Charrette with 41 ticks left went wide right for the scoreless draw.
NOTES
  • Davidson finished with a career-best four saves in goal for the Panthers for her first shutout of the season.
  • The programs played for the 37th time with Middlebury holding a 24-8-5 advantage in the all-time series.
