Six Panthers were named CSC Academic All-District honorees.
Six Middlebury student-athletes have been named College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District At-Large accolades. Caroline Adams, Shea Brams, Amy Griffin, Caroline Segal, Hope Shue and Audrey Tir each tallied the honor.
HONOREE HIGHLIGHTS
- Adams (lacrosse)
- Adams, a double major in neuroscience and Spanish, tallies her initial all-district accolade.
- The midfielder earned her second All-NESCAC recognition with a spot on the second team alongside IWLCA All-Region First Team honors and a third-team all-american nod.
- Adams was a dual threat for the Panthers, posting a career-high 48 goals and 67 points over 21 contests. She had two points or more in 21 of 22 contests this season.
- In the draw circle, the junior tallied program records in single-game (16) and career (349) draw controls. The Panther has had at least one draw victory in 52 consecutive contests.
- Adams was named to the NCAA All-Tournament team for the third straight campaign after tallying three goals and six draw controls over the championship weekend to help push Middlebury to its 11th crown.
- In the classroom, the Panther is a two-time NESCAC All-Academic honoree and the co-leader and sustainability chair of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
- Brams (nordic)
- An environmental sciences major, Brams earned her initial all-district nod.
- The junior has served as team captain for the last two seasons.
- The Panther secured All-American honors at the NCAA Skiing Championships, claiming ninth in the 20K Freestyle with a time of 51:46.1. Her finish helped the program to its highest team finish in the national event in 17 years with a sixth-place effort.
- An Eastern Intercollegiate Skiing Association (EISA) Second-Team selection, Brams earned three individual podium finishes and helped Middlebury to seven discipline finishes of third or better.
- The junior has qualified for three consecutive NCAA Championships and racked up 15 career podium finishes.
- Brams has been a NESCAC All-Academic selection in each of the last two seasons and volunteers with multiple Middlebury organizations, including Oratory Now and MiddCORE.
- Griffin (field hockey)
- Griffin graduated after majoring in computer science and earned the honor for the second straight season.Â
- The midfielder claimed multiple national and conference accolades, including NFHCA National and Regional Player of the Year. She was tabbed NESCAC Defensive Player of the Year for the second campaign in a row this fall.
- Griffin earned All-American, all-region and All-NESCAC First Team distinction.
- This season, the Panther paced the team and was second in the conference in assists with 14. Her 36 points were third on the squad.
- The senior finished her career as the program's all-time leader in assists (49) and tied for fourth in career points (161).
- The midfielder was named a CSC Academic All-America honoree last year, securing a spot on the first team.
- Off the field, Griffin is a three-time NESCAC All-Academic and NFHCA National Academic Team selection. She served as a computer science tutor and a member of Middlebury's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
- She was a volunteer at the Yellow House, an organization providing adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities with safe, residential family households, meaningful vocation, and support to develop skills, interests, and relationships. Â
- Segal (field hockey)
- Segal graduated in May with a degree in political science and tallies CSC Academic All-District praises for the first time.
- Serving as captain this season, the forward tallied NFHCA First-Team All-American and all-region honors alongside her first All-NESCAC honor.
- Named the conference's offensive player of the year, Segal led the NESCAC with career-highs in goals (24) and points (57).Â
- She finished the year fifth on the program's single-season list for goals and points.
- Segal became the second Middlebury athlete to earn the NFHCA Division III National Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The Panther was a three-time NESCAC All-Academic and NFHCA National Academic Squad member while earning Scholar of Distinction twice.
- Off the field, Segal completed internships with the United States Department of Commerce, the Department of Defense, and the League of Women Voters in the United States. She was also a board member and social media chair of MiddVotes and a tour guide in the Middlebury admissions office.
- Shue (lacrosse)
- Shue, who graduated with a degree in neuroscience, grabs her third all-district distinction.
- The attacker secured multiple national and conference honors, headlined by her second IWLCA National Player and Attacker of the Year award. She was named the NCAA Tournament's Most Outstanding Player and NESCAC Offensive Player of the Year.Â
- The senior earned IWCLA All-American and all-region first-team honors alongside NESCAC First Team distinction.
- Shue led the conference with 86 goals and 116 points, which were also single-season program records. She had 17 games with at least a hat trick.
- The attacker surpassed Middlebury Hall of Famer Amy DiAdamo '97 in career goals (309) and points (391) and concludes her career as the Division III all-time leader in goals during NCAA play with 80.
- In the classroom, Shue was named the NCAA Elite 90 Award recipient for the third-straight campaign, becoming the first Division III women's lacrosse player to achieve the feat. She joins former North Dakota State and Super Bowl champion Carson Wentz as a three-time Elite 90 recipient and four-time NCAA champion.
- The senior is a CSC Academic All-America honoree each of the last two years, earning second-team praises two seasons ago before being a first-team selection in 2024.
- Off the field, Shue volunteers at "Everybody Wins! VT" while being a member of MiddCAM and MiddCORE.
- Tir (golf)
- Tir graduated in May with a degree in economics and secures her initial CSC Academic All-District honor.
- An All-NESCAC First Team and WCGA Region 1 selection, the Panther earned third overall at the conference championship to help propel the program to its initial NESCAC crown.Â
- Tir was the team's highest finisher at the NCAA Championship, claiming a share of 12th with a four-day total of 296. The team secured a tie for sixth in the final standings for its highest finish in program history.
- The senior claimed five finishes of 10th or better, highlighted by medalist honors at the Ekwanok Sap Bucket Challenge.
- Tir finishes her career as a three-time All-NESCAC and two-time all-region honoree.
- The Panther earned three NESCAC All-Academic and WCGA All-American Scholar awards alongside being a member of Middlebury's Community Friends, a one-on-one mentoring program that pairs current students with children aged 6-12 throughout Addison County.
To be eligible for the CSC Academic All-District distinction, an athlete must be a sophomore athletically or higher, hold a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or higher, have been enrolled at the institution for at least one calendar year and be a starter or key reserve on their team.
