The #1 Middlebury women's lacrosse team rattled off 12 unanswered goals, highlighted by first-half hat tricks from
Maggie Coughlin and
Hope Shue, on its way to an 18-2 triumph over St. Lawrence.

HIGHLIGHTS
- The Panthers opened the scoring with 1:46 expired in the contest. Kylie Wilson tallied on a quick-stick chance into the right panel for a 1-0 edge.
- Coughlin increased the advantage 6:30 later, finding the left side of the net on a nifty feed from Jamee Numan to make it 2-0.
- Numan found the scoring column 48 seconds later, bouncing her free-position bid inside the left post for a 3-0 score.
- Shue, Kelcey Dion and Coughlin each followed with a marker, giving the hosts a 6-0 advantage after 15 minutes.
- Caroline Adams deposited her free-position shot into the right side of the goal 41 seconds into the second quarter, while Coughlin and Shue scored twice over the ensuing eight minutes for an 11-0 lead.
- Adams capped the half at the 1:45 mark, weaving through a pair of defenders before ripping a chance inside the left post for a 12-0 advantage.
- The Saints got on the scoreboard with 1:40 elapsed in the third stanza when Jessica LaPlaca worked her way from behind the goal before finding space over goalie Elizabeth Savage for a 13-1 score.
- The Panthers posted the next two tallies on a twisting shot from Britt Nawrocki and a bouncer by Sophia Lee to push the lead to 13 (14-1) at the 8:44 mark.
- LaPlaca rounded the crease with 3:22 left in the quarter and fired a shot that Savage saved, but LaPlaca grabbed the rebound and muscled a bid just over the line for a 14-2 contest.
- Alexandra Walker deposited the ball into the left side following a nifty pass from Anna Spehr with 1:40 remaining in the third. Maeve Lee had a pair of goals sandwiched around a marker from S. Lee in the final quarter for the 18-2 outcome.
NOTES
- Coughlin tied her career high with four goals and dished out a pair of assists, giving her 90 helpers as a Panther.
- Wilson had a nice all-around game with a goal, four ground balls, three draw controls and two caused turnovers. Her four rollers give her 126 in a Middlebury uniform, vaulting her into sixth place in the program's record books. She also has 103 caused turnovers, tied for second in the program's laurels.
- Gina Driscoll secured her 30th career win, playing 30 minutes between the pipes.
- The programs played for the 20th time with Middlebury owning a 14-6 advantage in the series. The Panthers have recorded a win in each of the last 14 matchups.Â
Middlebury returns to action on Saturday when it hosts #2 Tufts in a NESCAC contest at 1:00 p.m.
