#5 Women’s Tennis Shuts Out Trinity On Senior Day 7-0

The #5 Middlebury women's tennis team shut out Trinity 7-0 in the regular-season finale for both teams. Before the contest, the Panthers honored seniors Nina Farhat, Claudia Miller, Sahana Raman, and Nathalie van der Reis.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • The hosts quickly grabbed the doubles points to take a 1-0 lead. The duo of van der Reis and Lulu Wu swept their opponents 6-0 at #3, while the tandem of Elsie Van Wieren and Miller won via a shutout in the second position, giving Middlebury the 1-0 lead.
  • The duo of Raman and Farhat also notched a 6-1 victory in the top spot to conclude doubles play. 
  • Farhat started singles' play by earning the match's second point with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Naisha Rathi in the third slot.
  • Van Wieren extended the Panther lead to 3-0, claiming a 6-1, 6-3 victory at #1.
  • In the fourth slot, Charlotte McCann clinched the match for Middlebury with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Kendall Cedar.
  • At #2, Wu secured the 4-0 advantage with a 6-3, 6-2 victory.
  • Gusty Beveridge continued to expand the Panther lead by defeating Elise Brennan by set scores of 6-3 and 6-0 in the fifth spot.
  • In the final match of the day, Anna Lardner tallied a 6-0, 6-2 win over Hellena Trojer for the final 7-0 decision.
NOTES
  • Raman and Farhat have won 15 of their last 16 doubles matches together.
  • Middlebury has shut out Trinity in the last six contests dating back to 2017.
  • The Panthers have won nine-consecutive matches.
Middlebury returns to action next weekend when it competes in the NESCAC Tournament. The seedings and matchups will be announced in the upcoming days by the conference office.
