Women’s Track & Field Honors Seniors With Strong Showing At Middlebury Invitational

Middlebury celebrated its 13 seniors prior to the meet.

The Middlebury women's track and field team battled through rainy conditions and excelled with multiple top-three finishes during its annual invitational from the Allan Dragone Track & Field Complex. Before the meet, the Panthers honored their 13 seniors and their contributions to the program.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Middlebury tallied a podium sweep in the 1,500-meter. Violet Ross claimed the top spot at 4:57.54, while Kate Ratcliffe clocked a personal-best time of 5:03.33 for silver. Adrienne Christy rounded out the trio with a time of 5:10.40.
  • The Panthers earned the top-three spots in the javelin. Reilly Isler threw the implement 34.97 meters for first, while Jaxon Palmer (32.06m) and Margaret Kim (28.75m) earned silver and bronze, respectively.
  • In the long jump, Macy Daggitt recorded a leap of 5.72m to claim gold. Emily Rubio was right behind in second (5.50m), while Gabriella Gerig (5.15m) earned third.
  • The Middlebury 4x100 relay quartet of Katie Bruno, Daggitt, Melissa White and Olive Lawrence combined for a time of 48.57 seconds to earn first.
  • Emma Mills clocked a time of 16.02 seconds to secure the 100 hurdles.
  • Middlebury swept the podium in the shot put. Julia Tulimieri recorded a throw of 11.90m on her first attempt to earn top honors. Lilly Wurtz claimed second at a distance of 11.17m and Madeline Sauders rounded out the group with a toss of 10.54m.
  • In the 400, Elle Thompson led the way with a victorious clocking of 58.04 seconds. Anna Krouse finished right behind in second (58.56), while Mary Elliot followed a hundredth of a second back in third. Ella Pate rounded out the top five with a time of 59.79 seconds.
  • Zoe Wang led the charge in the pole vault by clearing a height of 3.40m. Claire Miller and Jessica Warren each cleared the bar at 2.80m to earn second and third, respectively.
  • The squad grabbed the top two positions during the 100 with Katie Bruno earning gold at 12.74 seconds, and White claiming second with a time of 13.02 seconds.
  • Middlebury's winning ways continued in the 400 hurdles as Rubio earned first  (1:04.92), while Anna Mazur finished less than a second behind with a personal-best clocking of 1:05.91 for runner-up honors. Cate Kreutzen stopped the clock at 1:08.73 to earn fifth.
  • In the weight throw, Palmer took home gold with a distance of 46.84m. Tulimieri grabbed third with her heave of 42.35m and Lilly Wurtz secured fourth with a season-best toss of 40.72m.
  • Sauders rounded out the top finishes for the Panthers by claiming the discus with a throw of 38.14m.
  • Addie Morrison grabbed runner-up distinction with her clocking of 27.10 seconds, while Elliot was 0.14 seconds behind for bronze in the 200.
  • Other runner-up finishes included Gerig clearing 1.46m for second in the high jump and Stephanie Renouf clocking a time of 18:46.37 in the 5,000. 

The Panthers head to Wesleyan for the NESCAC Championship beginning next Saturday at 9 a.m. where they look to claim their fourth-consecutive conference crown.
