#10 Women’s Tennis Roars Back For 4-3 Win At #7 Tufts

The #10 Middlebury women's tennis team fell behind 2-0, but roared back to edge #7 Tufts 4-3 on Saturday morning.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Panther duo Claudia Miller and Elsie Van Wieren claimed a 6-0 triumph in the second slot to get things going.
  • Natalie Hu and Stephanie Woodbury dropped just two games at the top of the lineup to earn a 6-2 win and force a point-decider in the third spot.
  • Duo Nathalie van der Reis and Lulu Wu battled back and forth against Sophie Wax and Ryan Wuhrman in a match that went the distance. Ultimately, Wax and Wuhrman were able to secure the tiebreaker 8-6 to give the Jumbos a 1-0 edge.
  • A 6-3, 6-4 triumph at #5 gave Tufts a 2-0 lead, before Middlebury mounted its comeback.
  • Sahana Raman secured a 7-5 tiebreaker in the opening set at #1, before cruising 6-2 in the second to make it 2-1.
  • In the sixth spot, Charlotte McCann fell 6-4 in the opening frame, but battled back for a 6-4, 6-2 win to knot the contest at 2-2.
  • The Jumbos claimed a three-set thriller of their own in the fourth slot to take a 3-2 edge.
  • The Panthers cruised to back-to-back wins from #3 and #2. Miller won 6-2, 6-4, before Van Wieren clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-0 win. 
NOTES
  • The programs played for the 39th time with Middlebury claiming its 20th win in the series.
The Panthers remain on the road, traveling to Bates on Sunday for a 10:00 a.m. start.
