  • Wesleyan knotted the contest at 4-4 about three minutes later on a ripper from Gavin Lechner that landed inside the left panel.
  • Neither team could find the back of the net over the final 10:43 of the half as the sides headed into the locker room level at four..
  • Both sides continued to trade the lead throughout the third quarter. Nick Marvin and Billy Curtis found the back of the net for the Panthers, while Burns and Lechner earned goals for the visitors to deadlock the contest at 6-6 heading into the fourth.
  • The back-and-forth trend continued early in the final stanza. Burns earned his third of the contest on a shot from 20 yards out, while Thorndike answered on a key find from Finn McCarthy for a 7-7 game with 8:25 remaining.
  • Wesleyan looked to grab control late in the fourth, scoring two of the next three goals to take a 9-8 advantage with 1:24 left.
  • Middlebury stayed the course, tallying the game-tying marker with 17 ticks left. DeMallie worked the ball around the back of the net and found Thorndike, who ripped a shot from 20 yards out that tucked inside the top right corner.
  • Wesleyan won the ensuing faceoff, looking for the final shot, but William Munroe caused a key turnover near the middle of the field to give possession back to the home squad.
  • Racing up the sideline, Munroe flipped the ball to a crashing Curtis, who fired a bouncer that sailed over the goal line to give Middlebury the 10-9 triumph.
