The sixth-ranked Middlebury men's tennis team grabbed the first three points en route to a 6-1 victory over #20 Redlands on Saturday.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The Panthers grabbed the doubles point to open the match. Julian Wu and Noah Lewis eased to a 6-2 victory at #3, while the pairing of Hugh Hentschel and Neel Epstein secured a 6-4 win in the second position.
- Noah Laber and Thehan Wijemanne claimed a tight 7-5 victory in the top spot.
- Middlebury's winning trend rolled over to singles. Laber earned a straight-sets sweep (6-3, 6-0) at #1 and Epstein cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 victory in the third spot to push the Panthers ahead 3-0.
- Wu clinched the match in the second position with his 6-4, 7-6 (3) result over Gustavo Marcanth.
- Redlands earned their lone point at #5, as Jack Hinkle tallied a three-set thriller (6-7 (9), 7-5, 10-8) against Hentschel.
- Lewis and Josh Davydov split the first two sets in the fourth spot, calling for a superbreaker. The Panther rolled to a 10-4 victory for the squad's fifth point in the decider.
- Wijemanne capped the match in the #7 position, rallying from a 4-6 result in the opener with 6-0 and 6-4 victories for the 6-1 score.

With its spring break trip complete, Middlebury returns to the East Coast next weekend for a slate of conference action. The team plays #3 Tufts on Saturday before heading to Maine to battle Bates on Sunday. Both matches are set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
