#14 Men’s Lacrosse Holds Off Connecticut College For 13-8 Triumph

The #14 Middlebury men's lacrosse team built a 7-1 lead and held off a comeback from Connecticut College to secure a 13-8 triumph.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • With 12:32 expired, Cooper DeMallie worked from behind the goal, muscling by a defender to find nylon for the 1-0 Panther edge.
  • An underhanded bid by Billy Curtis followed by a hard shot from Patrick Jamin extended the advantage to 3-0 with 10:41 remaining.
  • At the 8:09 mark, Logan White sent his turnaround bid into the goal for the 4-0 lead.
  • The Camels broke through with just over two minutes left in the opening quarter. Aidan McAvoy slotted his shot from the left side to make it 4-1.
  • Middlebury tallied twice in the opening 1:17 of the second stanza. Jamin started the spree with a shot under the crossbar, before James Farinacci ripped a left-handed bid for the 6-1 advantage. 
  • The Panthers tacked on another tally when Finn McCarthy found nylon with 2:54 elapsed for the 7-1 lead.
  • Connecticut College found its momentum later in the stanza, rattling off a 3-1 run. JJ Ford capped the span with a player-up goal to slice the lead in half (8-4) heading into the break.
  • The Camels added a pair of tallies to pull within two (8-6) to begin the third session.
  • Middlebury answered with four unanswered goals, each from a different player, to build a 12-6 advantage with 3:52 left on the clock.
  • Connecticut College scored with just 36 ticks left to make it 12-7.
  • The fourth frame was a defensive battle, with each team scoring just once as the Panthers secured the 13-8 triumph.
NOTES
  • The programs played for the 38th time with Middlebury owning a 32-6 advantage in the all-time series. The Panthers have won the last six meetings.
  • The win was head coach Dave Campbell's 185th at the helm of the program.
  • William Munroe was impressive on the faceoff dot, winning 13-18 while scoping up nine groundballs. 
Middlebury returns home to host Springfield on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
