The Middlebury women's track and field team kicked off its outdoor season at the Ross & Sharon Irwin Invitational hosted by Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, California. The two-day meet featured teams from across all levels of collegiate athletics.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Julia Tulimieri tallied two top-10 finishes in the throwing events. She claimed fourth in the hammer (43.41 meters), before earning seventh in the shot put with a distance of 11.78m.
- The quartet of Katie Bruno, Macy Daggitt, Melissa White and Olive Lawrence placed fifth in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 48.50 seconds.
- Reilly Isler claimed fifth in the javelin, recording a throw of 35.75m on her third attempt.
- Zoe Wang also earned a top-five finish with her mark of 3.51m in the pole vault.
- The Panthers had a trio of runners post strong times in the 5,000. Lulu Baker led the pack with her fifth-place clocking of 18:46.33. Amelia Gray (19:05.59) and Jules Davis (19:11.00) earned ninth and 10th, respectively.
- Middlebury had two athletes place in the top 10 in the high jump. Gabriella Gerig matched her personal best with a height of 1.50m for seventh, while Brooke Dolan earned ninth by clearing 1.40m.
- In the discus, Lilly Wurtz recorded a personal best of 39.45m to place seventh on the final leaderboard.
- Addie Morrison raced to an eighth-place effort in the 400, crossing the finish line in 59.55 seconds.
- Macy Daggitt claimed eighth in the long jump with a leap of 5.18m.
- In the 100 hurdles, Emma Mills stopped the clock at 15.49 seconds for 10th place.
NOTES
- Tulimieri crushed her previous best in the hammer throw by nearly six meters.
- Baker, Gray and Davis all secured new personal bests in the 5,000.
- Morrison clocked a new personal best by .01 in the 400.
The Panthers close out their Spring Break trip with the Aztec Invitational hosted by San Diego State University. The two-day invite begins on Friday, March 21.
