Women’s Track & Field Breaks Three School Records At New England’s

Elle Thompson broke the school record in the 600.
The Middlebury women's track and field team broke three school records on the first day of the Division III New England Championships. Williams won the event with 142.5 points, followed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (108 points) and Tufts (88 points). The Panthers finished in fifth place with 52 points. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • In the pentathlon, Emily Rubio claimed the crown with 3,554 points, besting her program mark of 3,450 points which was set during the 2023 campaign. Rubio tallied victories in the 60-meter hurdles (9.07 seconds), long jump (5.40 meters) and shared a three-way tie in the high jump with a height of 1.66m. Her point total also broke the meet record of 3,545 points from 2016.
  • Elle Thompson lowered the school record in the 600. Her runner-up time of 1:33.53 bested the previous mark of 1:34.98 set by Juliet Ryan-Davis in 2013.
  • Zoe Wang also rewrote the record books in the pole vault, clearing 3.77 meters to place fourth overall. Her height bettered the 3.66m mark she established during the 2024 campaign.
  • In the triple jump, Macy Daggitt hit the sand at 5.58 meters to earn second place. 
  • The quartet of Naomi Atwood, Lily Bulczynski, Caroline VanSchaick and MK Cestaro raced to a fourth-place finish in the Distance Medley Relay (DMR) with a clocking of 12:19.95.
  • The 4x200 relay comprised of Katie Bruno, Anna Krouse, Addie Morrison and Anna Mazur combined for a time of 1:44.91 for an eighth-place showing.
  • In the shot put, Julia Tulimieri led a trio of Panthers with a toss of 11.83m to secure 11th. 
  • On Saturday, Bea Parr crossed the finish line in fourth place, clocking in at 4:58.09 in the mile to record a personal best.
  • During the 800, Atwood finished in sixth with a personal-record time of 2:15.17.
  • Another top-five performance came from Audrey MacLean in the 3,000. The Panther was the fifth runner across the line, clocking in at 9:51.41 which was a personal-best time.
  • The 4x400 relay closed out competition on the track. Krouse, Thompson, Morrison and Mary Elliot tallied a sixth-place time of 3:57.16.
 
Middlebury will send select competitors back to Massachusetts next weekend, with some Panthers competing at the Open New England Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center and others performing at the Tufts University Qualifying Meet.
