The Middlebury women's basketball team faced off against its toughest opponent of the season, falling 64-38 to fourth-ranked Bowdoin on Friday evening. Augusta Dixon tallied two blocks during the contest, becoming the program's all-time leader with 115.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The Polar Bears jumped out to an 8-0 lead backed by five points from Carly Davey.
- Bowdoin continued increasing its advantage, making it 21-5 on a layup from Callie Godfrey with 25 ticks left on the first-quarter clock.
- The hosts did not let up in the second stanza, taking a commanding 35-12 lead heading into the intermission.
- Middlebury started the third quarter with 10 of the first 12 points to make it 37-20 with 8:00 left. Alexa Mustafaj led the charge, tallying five points during the span.Â
- Bowdoin stretched its cushion back out to 23 (48-25) at the 4:45 mark as Sydney Jones capped the scoring with a three-pointer.
- The Polar Bears made it 56-30 on consecutive makes from the charity stripe and a layup by Carley Davey before Calie Messina sunk two free throws just before the third-quarter buzzer sounded for a 56-32 score.
- Both sides struggled to find the cylinder in the final stanza with just four buckets combined as Bowdoin secured the 64-38 triumph.

- Dixon now has 115 career blocks, surpassing Betsy Knox '20 who had 114.Â
- Mustafaj led all scorers with 15 points.
- Middlebury and Bowdoin faced off for the 46th time.
