Third-Period Tallies Pushes #13 Trinity Past Men’s Hockey

The Middlebury men's hockey team was knotted 2-2 with #13 Trinity after 40 minutes, but the Bantams found the back of the net twice in the final period to take a 4-2 victory.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Trinity nearly scored 51 ticks into the contest on a blistering shot between the circles from Richard Boysen. Netminder Andrew Heinze stood tall and made the save.
  • The Panthers had a strong chance at 5:55 when Andrew Seaman picked up the loose puck on a Bantam turnover and tried to tap it in the net, but goalie Devon Bobak poked it away.
  • Middlebury had back-to-back opportunities at the 9:29 mark. Dante Palombo fired a shot in front of the net that bounced off Bobak's pads. Jack Silverman picked up the rebound and had his attempt steered aside by the Trinity goaltender.
  • Boysen had another chance to get on the board off a shot in front of the net that Heinze stopped on with 13:11 elapsed.
  • The Panthers scored 3:54 into the second period. Bobby May one-timed a shot from the point that ripped past Bobak to give Middlebury a 1-0 lead.
  • The Bantams responded just over a minute later. Ryan Panico sent a pass over to Connor Sedlak, who laced a shot over Heinze's glove to tie the game at one apiece.
  • Trinity did not let up, gaining a 2-1 lead 30 seconds later. Jakob Karpa fired an attempt from the blue line that James Barbour redirected into the net.
  • Revy Mack tied the game up with 6:02 expired in the stanza. Tangled up with a Bantam defender, Reece Brednich collected the puck and delivered it to Mack, who fired a laser from the top of the right circle that snuck through the legs of Bobak to knot the score at 2-2.
  • The Panthers looked to regain their lead 5:09 into the third period. Andrew Malatesta shot from the face-off dashes, but Bobak got his left pad on it to keep the score even.
  • Trinity retook the lead for good at the 10:45 mark. Sedlak found Eamon Doheny, who shot through traffic and into the net past Heinze, who was screened, for a 3-2 lead.
  • Boysen tallied the final goal of the contest with 53 seconds remaining, slicing a shot through Heinze's legs to double the Bantam advantage.
  • Palombo looked to cut the lead down in the final seconds, but Bobak thwarted his attempt to secure the 4-2 Trinity win.
NOTES
  • Jackson Morehouse tallied two assists. He has now had a point in eight of the last nine contests with five goals and nine helpers during the stretch.
  • Heinze recorded 37 saves.
  • The sides matched up for the 53rd time.
