Middlebury Holds Off Rochester 67-62 In Women’s Basketball Tilt

The Middlebury women's basketball team held off the University of Rochester 67-62 on Saturday. The game was a part of the Chuck Resler Tournament hosted by the Yellowjackets.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Panthers came out strong with Islay Moore sinking a three just 15 seconds into the contest to spark a 10-3 run.
  • Middlebury extended its advantage to double digits when Teagan Lind's step-back jumper at the 5:05 mark made it 17-7.
  • Rochester responded, rattling off 11-unanswered points to take an 18-17 edge with 1:08 remaining. Grace Corelli went 4-for-4 at the line during the span.
  • With three ticks left in the opening stanza, Sarah Chenette laid the ball in to give the Panthers a 19-18 lead.
  • The second session was a back-and-forth affair with neither team able to take a sizable lead. Lind recorded a pair of layups in the final two minutes, but Yellowjacket Bridget Miller countered with one of her own to cut the Middlebury advantage to one (31-30) at the break.
  • Knotted at 42 points apiece midway through the third quarter, Rochester tallied 10 of the final 11 points to take a 52-43 advantage.
  • The Panthers responded to start the final frame as Gabby Stuart rattled off five-unanswered points and Lind capped the span with 7:29 to go on a layup to slice the deficit to a pair (52-50).
  • Middlebury continued its momentum, going on a 9-2 run over the ensuing 5:48 to take a 59-56 edge.
  • The Yellowjackets cut the deficit to a pair (62-60) on a step back from Corelli with 49 seconds remaining.
  • Rochester was forced to foul down the stretch, but Stuart went 5-for-5 at the charity stripe to secure the 67-62 victory.
