Women’s Track & Field Tallies Seven First-Place Finishes In Home Meet

Krouse was part of the winning 4x200 relay and was second in the 400.
The Panther women's track and field team tallied seven first-place finishes at the Middlebury Winter Classic inside Virtue Field House over the weekend.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Starting the squad off strong on Friday was Lulu Baker, leading a trio of Panthers across the finish line with a clocking of 19:43.13. Ruby Pendy (20:21.59) and Janie Morganroth (20:46.50) followed in second and third, respectively. 
  • Also beginning competition on Friday was Emily Rubio, claiming the pentathlon with 3,371 points. The Panther won four of the five events including the 60-meter hurdles (9.36 seconds), high jump (1.65m), long jump (5.23m) and the 800 (2:35.58). 
  • Mary Elliot paced Middlebury in the 400 with a winning time of 59.19 seconds. Anna Krouse clocked in at 60 seconds flat to grab second place, while Addie Morrison earned fourth (1:00.46).
  • Crossing the finish line first in the 600 was Elle Thompson, recording a personal-best time of 1:37.00. 
  • Clearing the bar at a height of 3.55m was Zoe Wang to earn gold in the pole vault.
  • The 4x200 relay quartet of Melissa White, Katie Bruno, Krouse and Morrison combined for a winning time of 1:48.20.
  • Closing out the meet was the 4x400 relay (Annabel Cloney, Nikky Sztachelski, Elliot and Thompson), grabbing the final first-place finish with a clocking of 4:08.00.
  • Macy Daggitt collected a pair of runner-up nods, hitting the sand at 5.47m in the long jump, while tying Bruno at 8.06 seconds in the 60 dash. Bruno's clocking was a personal best.
  • Triple jumper Grace Hall recorded a mark of 9.97m and Gabriella Gerig sailed over the high jump bar at a personal-record height of 1.50m as both Panthers finished in second place.
  • In the 200, Anna Mazur earned runner-up honors with a personal-best time of 27.18 seconds, while Sztachelski finished in fourth place (27.34).
  • Middlebury earned second and fourth place in both the 1,000 and the 3,000. Sheldyn Fisher paced the group in the shorter event with a time of 3:09.66 followed by Caroline VanSchaick (3:10.37). In the longest distance, Amelia Gray clocked in at 11:01.34 and Stephanie Renouf crossed the line in 11:08.46.
  • Other third-place finishes came from Emma Mills in the 60 hurdles (9.58) and Lillian Wurtz in the weight throw (12.91m).
  • Rounding out the fourth-place Panthers was Cate Kreutzen in the 800 (2:29.12), Jaxon Palmer in the weight throw (12.64m) and Julie Tulimeri in the shot (11.31m). 
The team travels to Boston next weekend to host Middlebury's Small College Invitational at the Track at New Balance on Sunday.
