Women’s Track & Field Wins Snowflake Invite To Start Season

Zoe Wang won the pole vault on Saturday.
The Middlebury women's track and field team started the season winning its Snowflake Invitational. The Panthers garnered 206 points, while Plymouth State (110.5 points) and St. Lawrence (86.5 points) rounded out the top-three squads. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Middlebury tallied 10 event victories during the invitational. 
  • Macy Daggitt claimed a pair of triumphs, outleaping the field in the long jump (5.12 meters) and sprinting to a win in the 60-meter dash with a clocking of 8.06 seconds.
  • Zoe Wang cleared the pole vault bar with a winning height of 3.50m, while Grace Hall hit the sand with a first-place distance of 10.48m in triple jump during her collegiate debut.
  • A few events later, Julia Tulimieri earned the shot put crown with a heave of 11.90m, while Alanna Saunders was third (10.67m). 
  • In the 60m hurdles, Emily Rubio sprinted across the line in 9.31 seconds, just ahead of teammate Emma Mills (9.53).
  • The duo of Anna Krouse (59.63) and Nikky Sztachelski (1:02.73) posted the top-two times in the 400, while Eloise Christy won the 600 (1:46.72).
  • Other victories were recorded by Adrienne Christy during the 1,000 with a clocking of 3:24.49, followed by the 4x400 relay team of Krouse, Sztachelski, Addie Morrison and Elle Thompson with a victorious effort of 4:06.32.
  • Runner-up showings were tallied by Mills in the long jump (4.78m), Sheldyn Fisher during the mile (5:29.79), Tulimieri in the weight throw (13.17m) and Krouse in the 200 (27.07).
  • Podium efforts were posted by Morrison during the 200 (27.11),Gabriella Gerig in the high jump (1.45m) and Lulu Baker while running the 3,000 (11:13.88). 
NOTES
  • Saunders' effort in the shot put, E. Christy's time in the 600 and A. Christy's clocking during the 1,000 were all collegiate bests.
The Panthers return to competition on Friday and Saturday when they host the Middlebury Winter Classic.
