#2 Men’s Soccer Earns Hard-Fought Scoreless Draw With Connecticut College

The #2 Middlebury men's soccer team battled Connecticut College on Saturday afternoon, finishing in a 0-0 draw. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Elliot Spatz's bid to get the Camels on the board came at 2:31 of the opening half, but Middlebury goalie Joey Waterman thwarted his attempt.
  • The Panthers produced a quality scoring chance in the 20th minute when Antonio Cosentino ripped a shot that Connecticut College goalie Peter Silvester made a sliding save to his right to keep the game scoreless.
  • The Camels attempted to get on the board again with 38:48 expired, but Waterman made a diving save on a rising shot by Jake Creus. 
  • In the 74th minute, Middlebury manufactured an opportunity off of a shot by Tyler Payne but Silvester punched away the attempt to keep the contest deadlocked.
  • With 84:35 expired, Rye Jaran had a chance to give the Camels the golden goal, but Waterman caught the curling shot. 
  • The hosts looked to quickly counter when Colin Dugan's bid was stopped when Silvester came off his line to make the save and the teams to share the points. 
 NOTES
  • Waterman recorded a career-high five saves.
  • Connecticut College received votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches national poll.
  • The programs played for the 41st time in a series that the Panthers hold a 28-8-5 advantage.
  • Each of the last 11 contests have been one-goal decisions dating back to 2015. Middlebury is 5-3-3 in those matchups.
The Panthers return to action next Saturday when they travel to Bowdoin for a 12:00 p.m. kick off.
