The #14 Middlebury women's soccer team scored a goal in each half Saturday on its way to a 2-0 victory over Trinity.
 
HIGHLIGHTS

• The Panthers looked to get on the board at 13:24 of the opening half when Mia Feldman's attempt was blocked by a Bantam defender.
• Middlebury's Abby Ward crossed the ball over to Feldman who scored off her diving bid with 15:06 elapsed in the game for the 1-0 advantage.
• Chloe Swindle looked to double the Panther lead at 21:58, but her shot hit off the crossbar and bounded away.
• Middlebury goalie Carolyn Kelley made a key save on Bantam Sara Rieger's bid that headed toward the back of the net at 30:46. Kelley made another stop on a rising shot from Elsa Deutsch at 36:15 to keep the shutout. 
• The Panthers extended their lead when Swindle passed the ball to Fanny Lodge racing toward the front of the goal. Lodge's shot sailed into the center portion into the netting for a 2-0 edge.
• With 87:03 left, Gigi Day's attempt sailed toward the top of the net, but Bantam goaltender Lily Bracken held on for the final 2-0 score.

NOTES

• The goals by Feldman and Lodge were the first tallies this season for each player.
• Kelley recorded a pair of saves to earn her first shutout this fall.
• The programs played for the 36th time in a series in which the Panthers own a 24-8-4 advantage.
• With today's win, Middlebury starts its season 3-0 for the first time since the 2019 season.

The Panthers are back in action on Sunday when they host #4 Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) at 12:00 p.m.
