Macy Daggitt won the long jump with a school-record leap.
The Middlebury women's track and field team finished in second place at the Division III New England Championships, highlighted by
Macy Daggitt who broke a school record and
Julia Tulimieri who matched her own school mark. Earning the team crown was #2 Massachusetts Institute of Technology with 141.5 points, while the Panthers (54 points) and #21 Bowdoin (45 points) rounded out the top three. The top-eight finishers in each event earned All-New England honors.
HIGHLIGHTS
- During Friday's events, Daggitt won the long jump with a school-record and facility-record mark of 5.87 meters. The previous record of 5.84m was achieved last spring.
- In the shot put, Tulimieri finished in sixth place with a season-best toss of 12.35m. That distance tied her own school record which she established last season.
- The 4x100-meter relay of Katie Bruno, Melissa White, Michelle Louie and Daggitt combined for a runner-up time of 47.67. That clocking was the second-best time for the quartet this spring.
- Another top-three showing was recorded by Ciara Dale in the 400 hurdles. She claimed the bronze with a time of 1:03.38.
- Middlebury had a pair of competitors tally top-eight effort in the javelin. Reilly Isler was fourth with a toss of 37.97m, while Jaxon Palmer was two spots behind in sixth (37.07m).
- A trio of fifth-place showings came from Bruno in the 100 (12.58), Tatum Peskin during the 1,500 (4:41.02) and Victoria Fawcett in the 5,000 (17:52.67).
- Palmer, Adrienne Christy and Louie each earned a seventh-place award. Palmer tosses the implement 46.23m in the hammer, Christy leaned across the line in the 3,000 steeplechase (11:38.49) and Louie raced in the 200 (25.49).
- Other top-10 finishes were posted by Lilly Wurtz who was eighth in the discus (38.89m), Madeline Sauders in 10th during the same event (38.37m) and Lily Bulczynski while racing to 10th in the 400 (58.83).

- Personal-best efforts were recorded by Isler (javelin), Peskin (1,500), Fawcett (5,000), Christy (3,000 steeple), Bulczynski (400), Wurtz (discus) and Palmer (hammer).
Middlebury will send a group of athletes to the Open New England Championships hosted by Holy Cross next weekend, while other Panthers will compete at the Farley Inter Regional Extravaganza held at Williams.
