MacLean Places Sixth In Steeple At NCAAs To Earn All-American Laurels

MacLean placed sixth to earn All-American honors.
Audrey MacLean of the Middlebury women's track and field team finished in sixth place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase to claim All-American laurels. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Beginning in the outermost lane of a waterfall start, MacLean was patient out of the gates making her way into eighth after the first 1,000-kilometers.
  • With the top-four pulling away, MacLean settled into pacing the second group consisting of another four competitors.
  • MacLean and Sophie Bull of Calvin focused on the lead pack and separated from the rest. The pair went back-and-forth for fifth and sixth place over the last two laps.
  • The Panther crossed the finish line in sixth with a clocking of 10:36.28.  
NOTES
  • This is MacLean's second All-American honor of her rookie campaign. The Panther placed 10th at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships in the fall.
  • She is the second Middlebury competitor to earn the accolade this weekend, with teammate Macy Daggitt earning fourth place in the long jump on Thursday evening. 
The women's track and field team concludes competition for the spring, while the men's squad still has one more competitor on Saturday.
