Daggitt & MacLean Set To Travel To South Carolina For NCAA Championship

Macy Daggitt and Audrey MacLean of the Middlebury women's track and field team both earned a place at the 2024 NCAA Championship. The top-22 athletes in each event earned entry into the meet. 

DAGGITT'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Daggitt is making her initial appearance on the national stage after qualifying in the long jump. 
  • The junior owns the top distance in the Mideast region, with a leap of 5.87-meters set during the Division III New England Championship. That mark currently ranks ninth in the nation.
  • This season, the Panther has won the event on four occasions, while also finishing as the runner-up during the NESCAC Championship.
  • She has garnered a host of awards this spring, including all-region and All-NESCAC recognition in the event.
  • Daggitt was also named the NESCAC Field Athlete of the Week on April 16 after emerging victorious in the long jump at the Carla Coffey Invitational.
MACLEAN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • MacLean has had a stellar initial season in the navy and white, qualifying for the NCAA Championship in her first outdoor season, while also having competed on the national stage in the fall during cross country.
  • The Panther qualified for the national championship in the 3,000 steeplechase and holds the fifth-fastest time in Division III this spring, crossing the finish line 10:30.98 to win the NESCAC Championship by nearly 25 seconds.
  • Her time is also the fastest in the Mideast region by just less than 13 seconds.
  • The rookie has won the steeple in every race she has competed in this spring and has earned multiple awards. She is a two-time NESCAC Champion, also claiming the crown in the 5,000, while being named to the all-region and All-NESCAC squads.
  • Earlier this year, MacLean picked up USTFCCCA National Track Athlete of the Week honors as well as NESCAC Track Athlete of the Week on March 26.
ABOUT THE COMPETITION
  • In the long jump, last season's champion Victoria Kadiri of Johns Hopkins returns to the field. She owns a mark of 5.95m, which is currently ranked fifth in Division III.
  • Loras' Emma Seipel, who finished as the runner-up a year ago, leads the way this spring with a leap of 6.11m, while Genevieve Arnold of John Carroll (6.00m) and Khia Laster of Buffalo State (5.99m) are ranked second and third. 
  • Aubrie Fisher of Wartburg won the 3,000 steeplechase at last year's NCAA Championship and currently owns the fourth quickest time in Division III (10:24.28).
  • SUNY Geneseo's Rachel Hirschkind boasts the nation's fastest time, stopping the clock 10:17.19 at the Penn Relays, while Central's Megan Johnson (10:19.79) and Caroline McMartin (10:21.45) are second and third, respectively. 
CHAMPIONSHIP INFO Competition will take place May 23-25 at the Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
