Panthers Compete at Williams’ FIRE Meet & Open New England’s

Louie recorded a personal best time in the 100 and tied the 4x100 school record.
The Middlebury women's track and field team had several Panthers competing at the Williams' Farley Inter-Regional Extravaganza (FIRE) and one competitor at the Open New England Championships this weekend. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • The lone competitor at the Open New Englands, which is a meet with all three NCAA divisions, was Julia Tulimieri. The Panther placed 17th overall in the shot put and second in Division III with a toss of 11.46 meters.
  • Recording a personal-best time in the 5,000-meters was Audrey MacLean, crossing the finish line in 16:52.98 to place fourth overall. 
  • Also clocking a personal record was Michelle Louie, clocking a time of 12.34 seconds in the 100 to finish in fourth. 
  • Both relays had strong finishes at the FIRE meet. The 4x100 quartet comprised of Louie, Melissa White, Katie Bruno and Macy Daggitt tied its own school record with a time of 47.63 seconds to finish third overall. The 4x400 squad (Louie, Ciara Dale, Elle Thompson and Anna Krouse) recorded a season-best time of 3:53.03 to place sixth. 
  • Krouse also competed in the 400, stopping the clock in 57.97 seconds to finish in fourth.
  • Anna Mazur placed eighth overall in the 400 hurdles, crossing the finish line in a time of 1:08.39.
  • Rounding out the spotlighted competitors was Madeline Sauders and Llily Wurtz in the discus. Sauders placed eighth with a toss of 38.22, while Wurtz finished in 11th (36.17).
 
Several members travel to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Thursday, May 16 for the MIT Final Qualifier in hopes of earning a spot in the NCAA Championship.
