Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

#1 Women’s Lacrosse Pulls Away From #9 Colby 17-6

The top-ranked Middlebury women's lacrosse team tallied eight unanswered goals in the second half to pull away from #9 Colby 17-6. The win was the 20th-straight triumph on Peter Kohn Field and the 39th-consecutive for the Panthers.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Middlebury opened the game with a 4-0 run sparked by a dodge-and-weave tally from Hope Shue with just 59 ticks off the clock.
  • The Mules spoiled the scoring frenzy with three of the next four markers to close out the opening stanza. Paige Saudek and Stella Regan bounced in free-position tallies sandwiched around a goal through traffic by Middlebury's Susan Rowley. Ally Franz responded with a turnaround shot to cut the deficit to 5-3 after one quarter of action.
  • Just under a minute into the second stanza, Rowley rifled a shot from the right side into the upper-left corner to increase the Panther lead to 6-3.
  • Colby responded at the 13:09 mark, cutting the deficit to a pair (6-4) with a sidewinding goal from Cami McDonald.
  • Caroline Adams sparked a three-tally run for MIddlebury, bouncing her free position into the net, before Charlotte Price and Kate Motley closed out the span for a 9-4 halftime lead.
  • The Mules came out of the break strong, slicing the advantage down to three (9-6) with a pair of quick goals during the second minute of play. Tori Congdon's shot trickled through traffic, and Franz managed to score while falling to the ground after circling the goal feverishly.
  • That was as close as Colby would get, as Middlebury tallied eight unanswered markers over the ensuing 28:03 of action to secure the 17-6 triumph.
NOTES
  • With eight draw control wins today, Adams moves into third on the program's single-season list with 85 and is tied for sixth place on the career sheet with 169.
After a busy three-game week, the Panthers are idle until Saturday when they travel to #3 Tufts.
