#9 Women’s Tennis Cruises To 7-2 Win At #22 Bowdoin

The ninth-ranked Middlebury women's tennis team fell behind 2-1 after doubles action, but swept all six singles matches to cruise to a 7-2 win against #22 Bowdoin on Saturday afternoon.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Polar Bears opened the match with back-to-back doubles triumphs in the top-two spots to take a 2-0 lead. 
  • The tandem of Nathalie van der Reis and Lulu Wu got the Panthers on the board, earning a tightly-contested 8-7 (3) victory at #3 to cut the deficit to 2-1 heading into singles play.
  • In the top spot, Sahana Raman tied the contest at 2-2, rolling past her opponent in straight-sets (6-4, 6-2).
  • Gena Huang claimed a 6-3, 6-3 win at #4 to give Middlebury the 3-2 edge.
  • In the sixth slot, van der Reis secured a 6-3 win in the opening set before blanking her opponent 6-0 to make it 4-2. 
  • Claudia Miller clinched the match with a 7-6 (3), 6-1 decision in the third spot.
  • Amy Delman (6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (9)) and Wu (5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10)) each earned victories via superbreakers at #5 and #2, respectively, to complete the comeback and give the Panthers the 7-2 triumph.
NOTES
  • With her victory today, Delman increased her winning streak in singles play to six-consecutive matches.
  • The programs met for the 47th time with Middlebury possessing a 29-18 advantage in the all-time series. The Panthers have now claimed the last nine matchups.
Middlebury concludes its regular season on Sunday when it travels to Colby for a 10:00 a.m. contest.
