The 13th-ranked Middlebury women's tennis team capped a NESCAC weekend sweep with a decisive 8-1 victory over #16 Amherst. The Panthers blanked Hamilton 9-0 on Saturday, as the squad ranks second in the conference with a 7-1 mark.

HIGHLIGHTS
- The duo of Ananya Annapantula and Nathalie van der Reis eased to an 8-2 victory in the third slot to get the Panthers on the board.
- At #2, Gena Huang and Claudia Miller got out to a 6-0 start, but the Amherst pair of Amy Cui and Katelyn Hart won six-straight games to knot the match at 6-6. Huang and Miller dug deep, winning the final two games to secure the 8-6 victory.
- At the top of the doubles lineup, Amy Delman and Sahana Raman settled a back-and-forth affair in a tiebreaker, edging their opponents 7-5 to earn the 8-7 win and give Middlebury a 3-0 lead.
- Lulu Wu and Raman took care of business early in singles to clinch the match, as both edged their opponents 7-5 in the opening set. At #2, Wu eased to a 6-1 win in the second set, before Raman claimed a 6-2 victory at #1 to put the Panthers up 5-0.
- The final four singles matches were tightly contested, with three being decided in a third set and one in a superbreaker.Â
- Miller increased the advantage to 6-0 with a thrilling superbreaker victory (6-0, 5-7, 10-6) in the third spot.
- At #6, van der Reis came from behind to top her opponent by a 0-6, 6-4, 6-2 scoreline.
- The Mammoths earned their lone point of the day in a tight triumph in the fourth spot, with Lily Douchis edging Huang in three sets.
- Delman closed out the match with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 victory in the fifth spot to give Middlebury the 8-1 triumph.
NOTES
- Delman claimed her fifth-consecutive singles win and now owns a 41-27 career record.
- The teams played for the 53rd time, with the Panthers inching closer to evening the series, now trailing by just five wins (29-24). Middlebury has emerged victorious in13-straight meetings against Amherst.Â
The Panthers close out the regular season next weekend in Maine, taking on #24 Bowdoin on Saturday and Colby on Sunday.
