Women’s Track & Field Celebrates Seniors With Home Meet

The seniors were celebrated at the start of the meet.
The women's track and field team honored seniors Maggie Allen, Maribel Carpenter, Ciara Dale, Annabelle Lapp, Michelle Louie, Meaghan McEnroe, Tatum Peskin, Ashley Raynor, Mary Scott Robinson, Winnie Wang and Maggie Winters at its home meet on Saturday. The Panther squad tallied 16 first-place finishes in the non-team scoring invite.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Leading the way in the throwing events was Jaxon Palmer, claiming the title in both the javelin (36.80-meters) and the hammer (43.77m). Reilly Isler was right behind Palmer in the javelin with a mark of 35.22m.
  • Julia Tulimieri won the shot put with a distance of 12.09m, while Madeline Sauders took the top spot in the discus (40.99m). 
  • Wurtz earned a trio of runner-up honors in the throws, hurling the hammer (38.71m), the shot put (11.86m) and the discus (38.73m). 
  • Lucy Pollitt earned first in the triple jump (11.06m) and was runner-up in the long jump, hitting the sand at a distance of 4.96m. 
  • Earning a share of the crown in the high jump were teammates Gabriella Gerig and Eloise Christy, each clearing the bar at 1.42m. 
  • Anna Kester rounded out the field event winners, taking the title in the pole vault with a mark of 3.10m.
  • Middlebury saw both of its relays earn the top spot, with the group of Katie Bruno, Melissa White, Louie and Macy Daggitt winning the 4x100-meter (47.97 seconds) and the senior quartet of Wang, Lapp, Carpenter and Peskin crossing the line first in the 4x400 (4:36.50).
  • The Panthers took the top-seven spots in the 1,500.  Peskin led the way with a winning time of 4:48.11. Victoria Fawcett earned silver in the race, clocking in at 4:51.73.
  • In the 400, Middlebury claimed the top-four places, with Anna Krouse (58.78) and Lily Bulczynski (58.88) pacing the pack as the only sub-59-second racers in first and second, respectively.
  • The initial five finishers in the 400 hurdles were Panthers. Dale led the way with a time of 1:04.57, while Cate Kreutzen was second (1:07.44). 
  • Middlebury claimed the top-six places in the 200, with Louie breaking the tape in 25.49 seconds, followed by Daggitt in second (26.07 seconds).
  • Emma Mills won the 100 dash with a personal-best time of 15.57 seconds, while Allen was right behind in 16.67 seconds.
  • Another personal-record time came from Bruno in the 100, clocking in at 12.54 seconds. She was followed by Annabel Cloney (12.80) and the duo were the only sprinters to break 13 seconds.
  • Rounding out the first-place finishers was Elle Thompson, taking the crown in the 800 with a time of 2:16.70. Peskin earned second place in the event with a clocking of 2:24.43.
The Panthers are idle until Saturday when they travel to Tufts for the NESCAC Championship.
