#13 Panthers Sweeps Hamilton 9-0 On Senior Day

The 13th-ranked Middlebury women's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 sweep over Hamilton on Saturday afternoon. Prior to the contest, the Panthers honored seniors Kavina Amin, Amy Delman, Gena Huang and Sami Remis.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • The tandem of Claudia Miller and Huang eased to an 8-1 triumph in the second slot. 
  • Nathalie van der Reis and Ananya Annapantula recorded an 8-1 victory of their own at #3 to make it 2-0.
  • In the top spot, the duo of Delman and Sahana Raman trailed 6-3, but roared back, tallying five unanswered points to claim the 8-6 win.
  • Delman carried her momentum into singles play, cruising to a 6-2, 6-0 victory at #5 to extend the lead to 4-0. 
  • Miller clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph in the third spot, before Huang (6-1, 6-2) and Lulu Wu (6-1, 6-3) extended the lead to 7-0 at #4 and #2, respectively.
  • Charlotte McCann increased the advantage to 8-0 with a 7-5, 6-2 victory in the sixth slot. 
  • At #1, Raman dropped a tightly-contested opening set 7-6 (8), but bounced back for a 6-3 win in the second set and a 10-4 in the superbreaker to complete the 9-0 sweep.
NOTES
  • Delman secured her 40th career singles victory during the match, while Wu earned her 35th individual win.
  • Huang and McCann are each currently riding five-match winning streaks during singles action.
  • The programs played for the 12th time with Middlebury winning all 12 matchups.
The Panthers return to Proctor Tennis Courts on Sunday when they host #16 Amherst at 1:00 p.m.
