#11 Men’s Tennis Eases Past Hamilton 8-1

The 11th-ranked Middlebury men's tennis team dropped just one tightly-contested match en route to an 8-1 victory over Hamilton to claim its fourth-straight win.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • The duo of Aidan Harris and Julian Wu blanked their opponents 8-0 in the third slot to put Middlebury up 1-0.
  • At the top of the lineup, tandem Neel Epstein and Robby Ward earned an 8-2 win, before Hugh Hentschel and Thehan Wijemanne edged their opponents 8-7 with a 7-4 tiebreaker win. 
  • Noah Lewis kicked off singles action with a straight-set shutout (6-0, 6-0) at #5, before Hentchel clinched the match relenting just two games (6-0, 6-2) in the sixth slot.
  • Ward increased the advantage to 6-0, winning both of his sets at #2 by identical 6-1 scorelines.
  • Other wins came from Harris at #4 (6-1, 6-3) and Epstein at #3 (6-3, 6-4).
  • The Continentals' lone point of the day came in a battle in the top slot. Wu earned a 6-3 win in the initial set, but Connor Griff won 6-2 in the second. In the superbreaker, Griff edged Wu 10-6 to bring the final scoreline to 8-1.
NOTES
  • Epstein kept his winning streak going in singles action, claiming his 11th-straight victory. The Panther has not lost a match this spring during dual-meet action. 
  • Lewis also remains unbeaten this spring, earning his seventh-consecutive singles win. 
The Panthers close out the road portion of the regular season with a 12:00 p.m. start at #16 Amherst on Sunday.
