#4 Women’s Tennis Eases By California Lutheran 8-1

The fourth-ranked Middlebury women's tennis team eased by California Lutheran 8-1 on Monday night.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Panthers swept the doubles portion of the competition, starting things off with an 8-1 victory at #2 by tandem Gena Huang and Claudia Miller.
  • In the third spot, Kavina Amin and Charlotte McCann teamed up for an 8-2 win, before Sahana Raman and Nathalie van der Reis gave Middlebury a 3-0 lead with an 8-3 triumph at #1.
  • Lulu Wu dropped just two games to claim a 6-2, 6-0 victory in the second spot.
  •  Miller clinched the match in the third spot (6-4, 6-0), before Amin relented just one game per set for a win at #6 and Huang made it 7-0 with a straight-set triumph (6-2, 6-1) in the fourth slot. 
  • The Regals spoiled the shutout, grabbing a thrilling victory at the top of the lineup. Raman and Mari Carmen Bufkin split sets, before Bufkin claimed the superbreaker by a score of 10-2.
  • Nina Farhat closed out the match for the Panthers, winning both sets by identical 6-4 scorelines to secure Middlebury's 8-1 triumph.
NOTES
  • Amin's victory was the 20th in her career, as the Panther is riding a four-match winning streak.
  • Wu has also claimed four-straight triumphs, with three of those coming in the fourth slot.
  • Amin and McCann played doubles together in the fall, increasing their record to 7-0 with their first appearance together this spring.
Middlebury has a quick turnaround, taking on #3 Pomona-Pitzer at 6:00 p.m. EST on Tuesday night.
