Underhill Wins Giant Slalom On Final Day Of Harvard Carnival

Bradshaw Underhill picked up his first individual win in Sunday's giant slalom.
Bradshaw Underhill won the giant slalom (GS) on Sunday for his first career event victory, leading the Middlebury alpine ski team during the final day of competition at the Harvard Carnival. The University of Vermont won the team title with 859.5 points, while Dartmouth was second with 756 points and Colby completed the top-three teams with 696 points. The Panthers tallied 600 points to finish in fifth place.
 
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Underhill carved his way down the hill with an impressive time of 1:03.17 during Sunday's first run, pacing the field by 0.50 seconds. He bettered that time in his second trip (1:01.46), tallying a winning time of 2:04.63. That clocking was 0.34 better than the runner-up.
  • Will Trudeau just missed a top-30 showing, finishing in 31st place with a combined time of 2:08.25.
  • Rounding out the scorers was Axel Bailey who was just 0.05 seconds behind Trudeau. Bailey clocked a total time of 2:08.30 to finish in 32nd place.
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Alexandra Cossette posted the top effort for the women with a sixth-place finish. She was sixth after run one (1:07.14) and tallied the fifth-quickest time during her second run for a combined time of 2:11.9.
  • Recording her fourth top-10 finish was Mika-Anne Reha. The Panther raced down the mountain with a two-run clocking of 2:12.93 to place ninth.
  • Sara Paradis tallied the first points of her collegiate career, winding up just outside the top-20 spots in 21st place with a two-run time of 2:16.25.
NOTES
  • Underhill's win gave the Panther his third podium finish. He was second in the GS at the 2022 Colby Carnival and the runner-up in the slalom a few weeks later at the Middlebury Carnival. 
  • The women's alpine team was third in the GS, while the men's team finished in fifth place.
  • Today's GS races were originally scheduled for Friday but postponed due to course conditions.
  • The nordic portion of the Harvard Carnival concluded on Saturday with that release found here.
The Panther alpine team will compete in an NCAA Individual Qualifier on Thursday at the Dartmouth Skiway. Middlebury will return to action as a full ski squad on Friday and Saturday at the Dartmouth Carnival.
