Middlebury Sits In Fifth Place At Harvard Carnival

Maggie Wagner recorded a top-10 finish on Saturday.
The Middlebury alpine and nordic ski teams sit in fifth place overall at the Harvard Carnival following the second day. The University of Vermont leads the way with 665.5 points, while Dartmouth is second (568 points) and the University of New Hampshire rounds out the top three (552 points). The Panthers have 432 points to sit in fifth place with the giant slalom scheduled to take place on Sunday.
 
NORDIC HIGHLIGHTS
  • On the women's side in the 7.5K free skate, Shea Brams followed up her winning performance from Friday with a fourth-place effort on Saturday of 18:36.6.
  • Maggie Wagner was exactly 15 seconds behind finishing in seventh (18:51.6).
  • Jack Christner posted another solid performance after Friday's 12th-place showing, crossing the line during Saturday's action in sixth place with a time of 16:42.9.
  • Mason Wheeler earned his fifth top-20 finish of the season in six races, crossing the line in 14th place (17:01.2).
  • Rounding out the scorers for the Panthers was Sam Murray with a time of 18:54.4.
ALPINE HIGHLIGHTS
  • During Saturday's slalom, Mika-Anne Reha led the way for Middlebury with a seventh-place effort in 1:31.45. She improved her time by nearly three ticks during her second run down the mountain.
  • Katie Fynn was right behind in eighth place with a two-run time of 1:31.59, while Alexandra Cossette completed the scorers in 27th at 1:34.33
  • In the men's slalom, Bradshaw Underhill was the Panthers' highest finisher, placing ninth with a two-run clocking of 1:26.67.
  • Sebastian Segre finished in 17th place with his combined time of 1:27.46, while Axel Bailey rounded out the scorers in 27th (1:29.74).
NOTES
  • The women's alpine team finished in third place during the slalom with 88 points.
The Middlebury alpine ski team is back in action Sunday when it competes in the giant slalom to round out the Harvard Carnival.
