Elliot & Wang’s Victories Highlight The NYU DIII Invitational

Mary Elliot raced to victory in the 400-meters.
Mary Elliot and Zoe Wang each won their respective events, as the Middlebury women's track and field competed at the New York University (NYU) Division III Invitational on Friday night. The meet took place at the Armory in New York City and featured 32 teams.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • In the 400-meter, Elliot claimed the top spot with a personal-best clocking of 58.77 seconds.
  • Wang secured first place in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 3.34m which was 0.15 meters higher than the rest of the competition. Anna Kester was also a top-10 finisher, setting a personal record (3.04m) to place eighth.
  • In the weight throw, Mary Scott Robinson was the runner-up with a personal record distance of 14.62m. Robinson was also Middlebury's top finisher in the shot put where she earned ninth with a toss of 10.96m.
  • Melissa White qualified for the finals in the 60m dash, crossing the finish line in 8.03. She followed that up with a fourth-place finish in the finals with a personal-best time of 8.00 seconds.
  • Michelle Louie and Macy Daggitt also advanced to the finals of the 60m dash, with Louie placing eighth (8.14) and Daggitt just behind her in ninth (8.15).
  • Also setting a personal record was Anna Krouse in the 200m, placing fourth with a time of 26.72.
  • In the long jump, Daggitt finished in fourth place with a distance of 5.19m. Olive Lawrence also secured a spot in the top-10, placing ninth (4.88m).
  • Emma Mills won her heat in the 60m hurdles, qualifying for the finals with a time of 9.60.
  • Two Panthers finished in the top-10 in the high jump. Gabriella Gerig (seventh) and Eloise Christy (ninth) each cleared the bar at 1.45m.
NOTES
  • Elliott's time is currently 40th in all of Division III this year.
  • Robinson's toss in the weight throw cracked the top-100 in Division III this winter (94th).
  • Daggitt's distance in the long jump was her best of the season.
Middlebury returns to action next weekend when it travels to Boston University for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, beginning on Friday at noon.
