Middlebury returns multiple attacking options for the 2024 season. Hope Shue was named an Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) First-Team All-American and All-Region player a year ago, as well as an All-NESCAC First-Team Selection. Shue led the conference in goals, finding the back of the net a program record 83 times. She also tallied 105 points a season ago, ranking second on the team and in the Middlebury record books. During the NCAA Tournament, Shue scored 21 markers, including an astonishing seven in the national championship contest, garnering her the NCAA Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player honor.

Maggie Coughlin was a Second-Team All-Region honoree a season ago and finished third on the team in points with 55 (32G, 23A). Kelcey Dion started all 23 contests last spring and contributed 32 goals and 16 assists which were both tied for fourth on the team.

Susan Rowley garnered first team All-American, All-Region and All-NESCAC honors last spring, and returns to the midfield. The Panther scored 40 goals, which was third most on the team, and scooped up the second-most ground balls (35). Caroline Messer had a phenomenal first-year campaign, finishing fourth in both goals (32) and ground balls (30).

The Panther started all 23 games and caused 28 turnovers while collecting 31 rollers. Chloe Newman and Madison Paylor also played key roles on the defensive end last spring. Newman was third on the team in caused turnovers (22), while Paylor forced 19 takeaways. The pair also scooped up 28 and 26 ground balls, respectively.

Head coach Kate Livesay ’03 returns for her ninth season. The four-time IWLCA National Coach of the Year is joined on the sidelines by assistant Amy Patton and newcomer Olivia Seymour.
